Mr. Gaseene Sebetso

Mr. Gaseene Sebetso holds an MSc (Molecular Biology), University of Queensland, Australia – 2009, BSc (Biotechnology), Ferris State University, Michigan, USA – 1999, BSc Part I, University of Botswana – 1994. Sebetso joined the Tebelopele Board on 20th March 2012.

Mr. Sebetso is a Senior Laboratory Scientist and Technical Supervisor at Botswana –Harvard HIV Reference Laboratory (BHHRL) also a Rapid HIV Testing (RHT) Master Trainer and Coordinator. He has vast experience in the field of HIV/AIDS clinical and biomedical research. Sebetso’s responsibilities is to oversee daily laboratory operations and ensure continuous availability of testing services; liaise with the lab management and Quality Assurance management to ensure Lab Quality Management System is implemented and analyzes lab data for formulating national testing guidelines and policies.

Mr. Sebetso has interacted and worked with partners such as BOTUSA/CDC and has experience in technical areas of test kit evaluation and Quality Assurance in testing and logistics. He has been involved in the initial set-up of operations of the BHHRL starting in February 2000 and subsequent roll out of HIV testing services nationwide, initiation of HIV monitoring test services at Maun General Hospital in 2006 and facilitates the set-up of a National HIV Drug Resistance laboratory; which is close to completion.

He is a member of the Botswana Health Professions Council and Botswana Institute of Clinical Lab Professions.
