Tebelopele is a non –profit health and wellness organization dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of communities across Botswana for over 20 years. Tebelopele facilities are situated in 18 locations serving clients in rural and urban areas. In August 2018, Tebelopele became Botswana’s first and largest non- profit HIV Testing and integrated HIV-Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services provider.
Through a USAID award, Tebelopele implements a client centered integrated prevention, care and treatment program that supports the achievement of national HIV epidemic control. The program has four
- Key Results Areas, namely 1) to foster early detection of infection and to address the gaps in testing (especially among men and youth) 2) To enhance early linkage to care and treatment to persons newly identified as HIV positive 3) Increased Adherence, Retention and Sustained Viral Load Suppression for HIV and TB Patients on Treatment and 4) Scaling Preventive Strategies to Combat HIV Infection among Population at Risk.
Technical Director x 1 (Gaborone)
Reports directly to the Executive Director/Chief of Party. In collaboration with the Executive Director/Chief of Party, the Technical Director provides technical leadership and oversight of the program. S/he will ensure that project activities are of high quality. The Technical Director will provide strategic vision, technical expertise, direction, and clinical management support to the program. S/he will also provide technical leadership and oversight of DREAMS services aimed at Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), such as risk communication, HIV testing, SRH services, and links to social and economic development. To ensure optimal coordination and strong partnerships, the Technical Director will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government leaders, donors, and other external stakeholders.
- OVERALL PURPOSE
- The Technical Director will be responsible for providing strategic technical guidance and direction to the Chief of Party, project personnel, and other actors providing on-site technical assistance to project activities.
- This position is responsible for Developing, implementing and reviewing strategies, operational policies and procedures to ensure application and operational Health Care.
- Monitor standards and evaluate and report performance indicators regarding testing, referral networks, and business operations.
- Provide technical and leadership support to managers at project level.
- Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports with data analysis and commentary for the Board and Donor.
- Lead efforts and strategies to improve relationships between participating local bodies with the goal of enhancing integrated health service delivery, referral, and treatment of clients.
- Conduct market research regarding HIV/AIDS and SRH issues, good practices, quality standards, and care, particularly among AGYW and men.
- Participate in operational research exercises related to service improvements.
- Develop integrated health services protocols as per the country’s guidelines.
- Contribute to quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports as requested by the Chief of Party regarding financial, audit, and project activities.
- Represent Tebelopele within the media to facilitate marketing strategies.
- Manage relationships with key local stakeholders, the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), parastatals, the private sector, donors, and the general public.
- Provide leadership and managerial support , including objective setting, performance management, evaluation and coaching as required.
- Exercise suitable levels of confidentiality as always defined and dictated by Tebelopele.
- Perform operational duties as agreed with the Chief of Party.
- Carry out the financial reporting and accounting tasks required for the annual budget.
- Implement and operate mechanisms to ensure effective expenditure control.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field (includes Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Nursing, Medicine).
- A Masters’ degree will be an added advantage
- EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years’ experience on HIV/AIDS treatment and care, particularly among AGYW and men, and other integrated health services.
